The Blake School is actively seeking a passionate full time Middle School computer science teacher for the 2024-25 academic year. We're looking for a candidate who brings an enthusiasm for computer science and computational thinking, along with strong collaboration skills and a proven commitment to learner-centered pedagogy and creating environments for wonder and awe. This is a one-year, interim position.

Our ideal candidate is someone who embodies a forward-thinking approach to education, understanding the importance of equipping learners with flexible ways of thinking. They recognize that in an interconnected world, it's essential for students to not only master technical skills but also to cultivate adaptability and resilience. Additionally, they recognize the value of fostering meaningful connections across differences, ensuring that all students feel included and empowered to thrive in diverse environments. Collaborating closely with other members of the PK-12 computer science department, this individual will play a key role in shaping the future of our Middle School computer science program, preparing students to navigate and excel in an ever-evolving world.

As part of this team you would:

Teach computational thinking skills through the lens of computer science to students in grades 6-8 in quarter-long classes

Collaborate with other members of the computer science department as well as divisional faculty to develop cross-curricular experiences

Model a love of learning and foster an environment that invites all students to participate in exploration and innovation

In addition to teaching responsibilities, Middle School faculty actively engage with the broader community, advising students, participating in school events and contributing to various committees and meetings. Job Description

Directors direct plays and musicals. They work to devolp scenes and blocking, and then teach it to the actors. They supervize productions and work with producers, lighting and sound engineers, set designers, and costume makers to create a show which matches their vision. Although some directors are residents to a particular theater or school, many are freelancers.

Experience I Have With This Career

I have been directing shows since I was in kindergarten. Although the magnitude of each production is getting bigger, the largest of which is Death! A Musical, I have always been a theater director at heart. One of my earliest productions was The Lorax, which I performed in front of my entire 1st grade class.

Experience I Have With This Career

I have served as an editor and journalist for the Blake Bear Bugle for 3 years, which has given me a lot of experience. I have written articles on many different subjects, as well as created puzzles, games, and comics.
